Vontavia J. Heard is a California native and children’s book author dedicated to creating stories that inspire young readers. She has written over 20 books, her work centering on social-emotional learning, STEM concepts, literacy development, and diverse representation in children’s literature. In addition to writing, Vontavia is an educator, currently pursuing a master’s degree in elementary education while working as a certified substitute teacher. Her classroom experience informs her storytelling, allowing her to create books that align with real learning needs and student interests.

As the founder of Chick Lit Publishing LLC, she brings creative ideas to life through the publication of children’s literature. She is also the founder of Books and Buddies Inc., a nonprofit dedicated to promoting literacy and providing resources to underserved youth. Vontavia’s work reflects her deep commitment to education, creativity, and community impact.
